It was never my intention to brag

I’m sat working. There’s an album called Emotions playing in the background. It might be the most authentically titled album since Ogdens’ Nut Gone Flake. It genuinely makes me feel things. In the words of The Consequences, “there’s no emoticon for this feeling”.

The fact of the matter is that I feel quite content in life. While we aren’t all the way there (because then I’d have nothing to do but meander), I can sense that this is the direction that I’ve always wanted. I have good people around me, my working life is full, complex, daring. Love and light have entered from stage left. W

While I sit and work on something new, I am able to recognise that this is close to the life that a young Paul Schiernecker would be proud of. Cultivating the important things, holding onto hobbies and exploring more. Being purposeful and kind to myself in a way that I didn’t have capacity for before.

It just all feels very nice, and that’s wholly good.
